How I lost out on £2,000
I have been documenting everything that goes on with running my business as honestly as I can be. I told everyone I applied for a local grant but what I haven't said yet is that I got rejected.
Applying for small business grants is a tough process but it taught me so much.
Although I did not get the grant I wanted, what I got was worth even more.
The panel quized me on my plans, my business and my vision, even answering their questions got my brain on over drive thinking about my business critically.
They said after a 30 minute conversation that they saw the vision, believed in the brand and knew there was a need for Orlune (yay). But, what they said was, the business needs more work. Now I won't lie, this bruised my ego like a baseball bat to the face would but I gave myself the day to think it all over and absorb everything they said.
After the meeting finished I was offered support with all of the panel including their business support expert to get my business up to shape to apply again. I had that very first meeting today and already feel so much more positive about my direction and my focus with Orlune.
Running two businesses is not for the weak but I have so much passion for both and I am so lucky to have a local area who will support businesses like Orlune, one day I hope to be able to offer grants just like that and help businesses in their infancy.
For now, we are the infant business and we will be working with local council members, businesses and Barclays bank to make sure Orlune makes it big time and makes a big change.
I will update you all when I have more info!
Always with smiles and enthusiasm, Hatty
