I am on track to lose money
Starting a business is always tough, when I started my first business the only thing I needed was a good wifi connection (thanks dad) and my laptop.
My brain was the value, luckily I didn't have to pay for that part.
This business has been totally different and it has been taking a toll on me. I have always been driven to be amazing, never the best, being the best doesn't interest me because where do you go from there. But wowing people, being exceptional, that is what drives me.
I never knew Orlune would be what it is today and I know it is going to change the landscape for networking. However, I am in the early stages and that means the business is broke, I can't afford to take anything out of the business and I am investing so much of our savings which is tough when we are saving for a wedding and just bought a house.
Coming to terms with working to a break even or loss is not something that you are prepared for when you start a business, not that there is much that you are prepared for. Where is the manual that gives you an insight into what to expect?
I am about to host my first local event where I live which is equal measures terrifying and exciting. When you host an event in Leeds, you borrow the density of founders and the shine of the city, when you bring things local, it feels personal.
What an honour to be hosting an event in Worksop, the place I went to school, the place I know call home. The business community here is amazing and I have been welcomed with open arms which has made this all possible.
I will however, make a loss on the event. So why do it?
In short, it needs to be done.
In long version, I know we can grow with time and eventually start to make money from this, but for now, I just need to focus on providing a safe space for women to network in the local community.
Here's to a long life with Orlune.
