Female Founders in 2025
Share
I wanted to take the time and space (because I can as this is my website) to introduce what 2025 will look like for female founders, I hope.
There has been a surge of female entrepreneurs from content creators to fashion designers, construction workers and everything in between. In 2022 female led companies represented 20% of all UK businesses which is up from 16% in 2018.
This may not seem like a huge jump but when you consider how many businesses this actually is, it is something really to be proud of.
And, you may not know this, but female led businesses typically perform better than male ones. Go figure huh? Yet, funding for us is a huge hurdle, less than 25% of active UK companies secured external capital while male led companies obtained 7 times more funding. Imagine what 7 times more funding could do for your business.
I am not here to simply talk about how hard it is about being a woman but I do want to talk about the changes that are happening and how we can all contribute to that change. How incredbile for our children (or hypothetical children) to be able to say "my mummy owns her own business".
A life goal of mine was for my child to be able to be accused of having "Daddy's" money and they are able to correct them that it is in fact "Mummy's" money. A strange goal I know but whatever works for you.
This blog is going to become the place where I keep you all up to date with the goings on of Orlune, running a business (or two) and where I want to go with the business next.
In a generation of video lovers, this is for the readers.
So, without further ado, welcome to the Orlune blog.
Next time I will include the process of organising the first event, the goodie bags and the podcast.
See you on the golf course
